This evening Quetzalcoatl is making his first official Letterboxing appearance blog style. I normally do not share box images before planting but after spending so much time carving I just had to share the image with my friends.
Quetzalcoatl is a Toltec and Aztec god. I choose to depict the feathered/plumed serpent that represents one of Quetzalcoatl’s forms as presented through mythology.
If you are unfamiliar with Quetzalcoatl he is important in Aztec mythology for being the god that created humans in this world. You can see a small Aztec temple in the background of the image.
I have never carved a dragon before. I could not resist coloring him although my first inclination was to color him in greens and silvers but if I had I was concerned that he might blend in with the jungle too well.
My next focus will be a few LTC’s, his logbook and an appropriate Dragon container. Just when I thought the hard part of this project was completed I still have a ton to do before he heads to New York.
What a lovely carve, indeed!
