Goose Lake Five Minutes From Our Camping Site

Anthony and I discovered Friday morning (to our delight) that we were actually camping 5 minutes from Goose Lake. We walked through the deserted Grouse Campground and low and beyond we had an entire lake to ourselves.  Goose Lake is approximately 16 miles from McCall.  Goose Lake is a no-wake lake offering rainbow and brook trout fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Numerous hiking, horseback riding and dirt bike trails are in the vicinity, including Granite Mountain Lookout and Goose Creek Falls

This was a great little loop to walk the dogs on along the water and we spent time checking out challenging hikes that Tony could go on while I prepared Letterboxes for planting. He originally thought he could make it to Granite Mountain Lookout (which we could see through the binoculars) but the snow on the ridge was too deep and several falls were raging down the mountain that he would have needed to cross.  Since they were flowing so hard he was not sure that was the best idea.

Raisin and Jay are great about taking a chest height dip to cool off and really liked being off leash both at the camp site and at the lake.  Since we were completely alone there were no worries about the dogs disturbing other's.  In hindsight Anthony had wished we had brought along his fishing gear.  We also have a canoe but we would have needed more male muscle to move it.  We will have to save the canoe and fishing for another adventure.
