Chibi Star Wars Letterbox Trading Card - Obi-Wan Kenobi
What is Chibi? Chibi is "super deformed". It's a style of drawing characters in manga (Japanese comics). The style normally looks like a person with big eyes, a big head, small body, simplified features, and over exaggerated emotions/expressions.
Originally meaning small child, small animal, but is now used in pop culture to refer to "small, cute versions of manga, anime, etc. characters, typically with over-sized heads". It is not restricted to just mangas, live actors/actresses also have chibi versions of themselves to market merchandise/products.
Who is Obi-Wan Kenobi? Obi-Wan Kenobi, later known as Ben Kenobi, was a Force-sensitive human male Jedi Master who served the Galactic Republic. He was mentor to both Anakin Skywalker and his son, Luke, training them in the ways of the Force.
Put the two together and you have one of the stamps I carved for our December Star Wars - The Letterbox Force Awakens event. I am usually scrambling before an event and never have time to make any Letterbox Trading Cards (LTC's) to share. Now that the event is over and I have returned almost all of the stamps to their owners I am finally slowing down and am catching up on creating a few LTC's.
The image of Obi-Wan is stamped, embossed, colored with Copic markers and the finishing touches are adding stickles glitter (by Ranger) to Obi-Wan's lightsaber and distressing the area around Obi-Wan with a color duster brush and Close to Cocoa Ink from Stampin' Up!
"We will each be challenged; our trust, our faith, our friendships, but we must persevere. And in time, a new hope will emerge." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
