Illinois and Wisconsin Adventures Day 4

Our 4th day in Illinois was split into two parts.  Anthony and I spent the morning sampling an abundance of fresh cheeses by starting at the Mars Cheese Castle in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  We were in cheese heaven and ended up shipping quite a few of our favorite meats and cheeses back home to Boise.  No one wants to pay extra baggage charges because your suitcase is full of cheese.  We also visited several additional cheese shops near the Mars Castle and also an antique mall.  I found a cute little Halloween decoration made of felt that I carried back to Boise and a jar of buttons for only $2.00.  I could have spent quite a bit more time at the antique mall but we were meeting Nick back at the hotel at noon so we had to zip through rather quickly to get back in time.

We were thrilled to have Sailor Nick for his afternoon of Liberty time on Saturday and decided to stroll around the Harley-Davidson Museum located at 6th and Canal Street in Milwaukee.  It was really raining out while we were at the museum so it was a perfect day to visit.  The museum was celebrating Harley Davidsons 110th anniversary.  Since both Anthony and I ride motorcycles it was really neat to see the humble beginnings of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle company.  Although our bikes are not Harley's you can still appreciate the importance that motorcycles have played in history.

After the tour we found ourselves back at Millioke restaurant and enjoyed a really relaxed late afternoon meal with Nick.  Since he was shipping out at midnight we wanted to be sure to have him back on base in plenty of time to gather his things, pack up and be ready to roll as soon as his bus was set to leave.  Since the new sailors are not allowed to take their cell phones back on base Anthony drove back down to the airport at 2:00 a.m. to say good bye and to give Nick back his cell phone so he would have it on his way to Florida.  I offered to stay in bed and keep it warm while he made the run to the airport.  Nick's flight was not until 7:00 a.m. but he had lots of his new sailor friends also waiting for their flights so he had plenty of company at the gate.
