Last night Wapiti Seekers invited Freelanderz, Capperpillar and I over for Shepard's Pie and lots of table space. Capperpillar put together another great carving demonstration complete with supplies (rubber, tips, instructions, images etc.). It didn't take long for the carving to get underway and for both Wapiti Seeker and Freelanderz to each complete a small stamp. Although they have both carved a bit in the past I think the tips and tricks that Capperpillar has compiled really make the difference and improve the learning curve by leaps and bounds. I sure know they have helped me significantly. Although I didn't carve while we were there I did manage to bring my LTC's over to share with everyone. I finally spent the time organizing them this week and was thrilled to finally have them protected and portable. We are really looking forward to seeing more boxes out on the trail in the near future. Have magnifying lamps and will travel. That's our carving motto for the week. I also made cupcakes and made a new frosting that was very simple and yummy. I will double the recipe next time. Yummy Frosting Thanks to Martha Stewart's Cupcakes Cookbook:
Brown-Sugar Cream-Cheese Frosting
(Makes 2 1/2 cups)
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup packed light-brown sugar
With an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat butter, cream cheese and brown sugar until smooth. Use immediately, or refrigerate up to 3 days in an airtight container. Before using, bring to room temperature, and beat on low speed until smooth.
